Microsoft Office 365 and Office 2019 Certification Exams are Now Available

cid:image011.jpg@01D58DAD.4EFC16A0

The new Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exams for Office 365 and Office 2019 are now available! As the official standards-based certification for validating Microsoft Office skills, the new exams will include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook on both the Office 365 and Office 2019 platforms. Test candidates running Office 365 on their computers will test on the exact same exam as test candidates running Office 2019 on their computers. These exams are live-in-the-application and the exams will run using whatever Office application is running on their computer and will test on the same tasks during the exam.

Microsoft Office Specialist exams are performance-based, timed, and completed live-in-the-application to validate in-demand, career-relevant, workforce skills with Microsoft Office applications. The new Office 365 and Office 2019 certification exams have been mapped to a set of revised objective domains to reflect the skills required in today’s modern workplace and now include new Office features such as 3D models, morph animations, slide zooms, new Excel functionality, and improved accessibility features.

New curriculum mapped to the exam objectives will be available on the Microsoft Imagine Academy (MSIA) member website starting in January 2020 – watch the upcoming newsletters for further information!

The Pathway to AI, Data Science, and Cloud Computing

The new Microsoft Fundamentals exams are a great way for educators to introduce cloud skills and credentials for students in upper secondary, high school programs, and early college or university technical education programs. Fundamentals is not a direct replacement for MTA [MTA continues onward; the only exception being the retirement in September 2019 of Introduction to Programming Using Block-Based Languages (98-380) and Cloud Fundamentals (Exam 98-369)].

The new set of Fundamentals exams is the next evolution in certifications and ties into the Role-based certification motion as the starting point for students who are looking to start a career in artificial intelligence, data science, and cloud computing. With big data and artificial intelligence on the rise in the workforce, the demand for data scientists is not being met—and the gap is widening.

Three Fundamentals exams are now live:

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (Exam AZ-900): This exam measures the ability to understand the following: cloud concepts; core Azure services; security, privacy, compliance, and trust; as well as Azure pricing and support. As noted above, the MTA Cloud Fundamentals (Exam 98-369) retired in September. The new Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (Exam AZ-900) is being introduced as an alternate option for schools looking for the latest Cloud skills credentialing.

Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (Exam MS-900): This exam is designed for candidates looking to demonstrate foundational knowledge on the considerations and benefits of adopting cloud services in general and the Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud model.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (Exam MB-900): This exam is designed for candidates looking to demonstrate foundational knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform applications, and the cloud computing model.

You can choose from the 3 Fundamentals exams if you have purchased either the 500 Multi SKU or the 125 MTA/MCE SKU.

Fundamentals exams are available in VL Multi-Cert SKU licensing  – added to the mix of MOS, MTA, MCE – this addition provides more features and flexibility in the existing multi-cert license, but no additional cost to you.

If your school already has the Multi-Cert SKU license – either the 500-exam license or the 125 MTA-MCE combo pack license, the Fundamentals exams were already added to your inventory as an option.

If your school is interested in purchasing the Multi-Cert SKU license with Fundamentals, please talk to your Microsoft Education Reseller. Keep in mind with the Multi-Cert SKU, schools are able to leverage more than 50% discounts on the exams in the site license via academic pricing compared to purchase of individual exam vouchers.
